While the term yupcap may be unheard of to the majority of borrowers, those that fall within the category are familiar to it most. During the real estate boom some areas of the country saw many young buyers forced out of the market as a result of rising home prices. However, the sub-prime mortgage market and the ease of getting a 100% loan along with the ability state your income allowed many yupcap's to buy homes they probably shouldn't have.

As the real estate market returns to normalcy yupcaps once again have become marginalized and obtaining financing has once again become challenging. At least the decline in real estate prices helps offset the difficulty in obtaining financing.
