Voluntary Lien
This is a type of lien in which the homeowner willingly gives to a lender. A mortgage, for example, is a voluntary lien. An involuntary lien is one that is placed against you or your property for an item either in dispute or unpaid. A mechanics lien or a tax lien would be considered a involuntary lien.
