(1.) The clause in a mortgage that ensures that the mortgagor's legal interest in the property is to be extinguished once the borrower has met all of their obligations under the mortgage terms and paid out the entire principal and interest borrowed. (2.) A type of prepayment penalty, according to which the borrower must replace the mortgaged property with Treasury securities of equal yield to the mortgage.
